Rare mainline Dirk Bikkembergs Homme leather boots from 1996, constructed in dark brown leather with the designer’s signature extended lacing system threaded through the heel and wrapped around the ankle, finished with a sculptural metal heel.
The lace-through-heel construction is one of the defining elements of Bikkembergs’ early footwear language. This pair belongs to the mainline Dirk Bikkembergs Homme line and captures the industrial, military and utilitarian character of his 1990s menswear.
Construction: soft brown leather upper, leather sole, rubber traction sections and metal heel. Made in Belgium. The leather has broken in beautifully over time and is exceptionally soft and comfortable while retaining the strong architectural shape of the boot.
Condition: exceptional for a pair from 1996. The leather was regularly conditioned and treated with leather care, the shoes were impregnated for protection, and they were consistently stored on shoe trees. The metal heels were regularly cleaned and maintained with dedicated metal care. Light age-appropriate traces of wear are visible in the photographs. The leather remains supple, nourished and fully wearable.
